- Arsenal have lined up an £8 million move for Newcastle United midfielder Cheick Tiote. Club Manager Arsene Wenger believes that the addition of the tough-tackling Ivorian will strengthen the team's midfield ahead of the new season.
- Mexico National team coach Miguel Herrera has advised Manchester United striker Javier Hernandez to quit the club so as to secure first team football.
