TRANSFER ZONE - 25th August 2014
- Real Madrid have asked Manchester United to cough out £75 million in order to land wing wizard Angel Di Maria. The signing of the Argentine forward will smash the British transfer record and take the club's 2014 transfer spending to over £170 million. Boss Louis van Gaal is poised to bring in more new faces to Old Trafford before the end of the transfer window, with Daley Blind of Ajax and Nigel de Jong of AC Milan among possible targets.
- Juventus have lined up a loan move for Arsenal forward Lukas Podolski. Following the arrival of Alexis Sanchez, the German striker has fallen down the pecking order at the Emirates who is also a target for German club Wolfsburg. A move away from the club seems likely.
- Arsenal are set to re-ignite their interest in Brazilian midfielder Luis Gustavo. Arsene Wenger is keen to boost his defensive midfield options with Mikel Arteta injured and Mathieu Flamini battling with fitness.
- Everton are considering moves for former Chelsea striker Samuel Eto'o and Manchester United striker Danny Welbeck to boost the club's attacking options.
- AC Milan have lined up a loan move for Chelsea striker Fernando Torres as a replacement for outgoing striker Mario Balotelli.
- Hull City have agreed in principle with Tottenham for the transfer of defender Michael Dawson.
