• Manchester City are set to launch a £40 million swoop for Sevilla striker Alvaro Negredo and Fiorentina forward Stevan Jovetic.

• Arsenal have missed out on the signing QPR goalkeeper Julio Cesar, after the Brazilian agreed to join Italian clubside Napoli on a season-long loan deal.

• French champions PSG are interested in £8 million-rated Chelsea defender Branislav Ivanovic but the Serbian wants to stay at Stamford Bridge.

• Liverpool skipper Steven Gerard is set to sign a new two-year deal to remain at Anfield until 2015.
